Jim Murray's Whisky Bible
Insider knowledge: Colonel EH Taylor Straight Rye whiskey is named whiskey by virtue of the fact it's from America. If distilled in Scotland the spelling would be Colonel EH Taylor Straight Rye whisky, as opposed to whiskey.
Nose: Oily rye spices and all kinds of woody notes. Hints of dried peels, orange zest and linseed.
Palate: Thick with cooked fruit and caramel. Potpourri, rye, hints of butterscotch and prune.
Finish: Long, sweet finish. Very spiced.
