North Port 1979 Bottling Note
A 20 year old bottling, distilled in 1979 before bottling at cask strength for Diageo's Rare Malts range.
The nose is full of rich green notes. The profusion of cut hay and stemmy grass with a little fruitiness to round things out slightly. Notes of pine oil develop with zeal and hints of sweetness and a touch of Calvados somewhere in the substratum. The palate is full and very green with reasonable sweetness. There are notes of leafy greenness, a touch of earthen roots and a farmyard note. The oak develops to reveal a peppery warmth. The finish is long with the oaked warmth rising with gusto.
