This is a delicious 1996 vintage from the Lagavulin distillery, this was given a finish in top-quality Pedro Ximénez dessert sherry casks. The result is a mix of Lagavulin's signature smoky flavour, with the sweet, syrupy flavour of the dessert sherry.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Smoked, woody aromas of truffle oak, allspice and dry hay. A touch of nutmeg, rum and raisin ice cream and prunes.

Palate: Smoked prune juice, porcini mushroom. Christmas Cake, sticking plasters and rum. Chocolate.

Finish: Demerara rum, cocoa powder and black pepper.

Overall: Very rich and beautifully balanced.

a taste of heaven

if you enjoy the 16yo, DO NOT pass the Distiller's Edition up. Such a sweet taste....then after a moment the overwhelming peat permeates your palate. Such an enjoyment-will buy again!

Nice Long Smokey Finish

Slightly sweet when it first hits the palate but finishes with a long smooth smoke flavour. Closing your eyes gives you the experience of sitting on a hillside absorbing the last embers of a beach side fire slowly reaching the end of life... very nice.

Sweeter than Lagavulin 16yo

The nose has a crispier and zestier whiff of dried fruits and berries with smoke in the background. The body is thick and sweet with sherry. Syrupy aftertaste with hints of smoked salmon, delightful! This is on par with the regular Lagavulin 16yo. Perhaps even better :) depends on what you are looking for. To me this tastes like Lagavulin 16yo with added sweetness and sherriness.
