What's in a name? Glenmorangie 1977 whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Glenmorangie 1977 whiskey, rather than whisky.
The nose is sweet and vanilla-rich with butterscotch and musky malt. There are notes of brine and toast and a very subtle peat character. The palate is quite thick and full with notes of juicy cereals, oak and nut oils. A little winter spice, mace and a hint of smoke. The finish is sligtly smoked with a little dryness.
