Edradour Moscatel 14 Bottling Note

A 14-year-old Edradour that's spent four years in Moscatel casks following a 10 year maturation of ten years. It's bottled at cask strength.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Strawberry jam in a Victoria sponge. Malty, golden syrup sweetness. Slight hint of hayloft with an earthy element too.

Palate: Vanilla custard tart, and more jam. Some buttery notes with oatmeal biscuit. Fresh strawberries towards the finish and a hint of that earth from the nose.

Finish: Soft, sweet conserve.

Overall: A delicious dessert-like whisky.

User Reviews of the Edradour 14 Year Old 1997 Moscatel - Straight from the Cask

Not what I expected, in a great way.

The review makes this sound super sweet, but it's not at all. It's perfect. I've tried the bordeaux cask variation which is very good and unique but strong fruit flavor. This one is much better balanced. Only the nose is sweet. To me, it has the nose of GlenDronach 15 Revival, the palate of Nikka "Whisky from the Barrel", and finish of a Glenmorangie. And some of the best packaging around! (other than the labels). The only complaint is the 50cl size which I didn't notice when purchasing. Still worth it!
