Interesting fact… The Whisky Advent Calendar (2012 Edition) whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be The Whisky Advent Calendar (2012 Edition) whiskey, instead of whisky.
Impossibly simple but brilliant idea. Wish I'd thought of it!

I love it! I SO want one for Christmas!
1st November 2012
Anyone tried this thing? Looks amazing..
2nd November 2012
Just ordered it! Cannot wait for December 1st!
3rd November 2012
What means the "(72cl, 0%)" in the title?
4th November 2012
It means there is a total of 72cl of whisky provided. It says it is 0%abv because there is a variety of different strengths of whisky inside.
5th November 2012
So great! I hope someone buys it for me soon. Here's my wish list: http://toa.st/!/3
This would be perfect for my boyfriend. Would be great if you shipped to Canada!
Mine just arrived. Handsome box, can't wait to try the samples!
6th November 2012
I'd love an American whiskey advent calendar... Or Irish. Any possibility?
7th November 2012
Just ordered a few days ago, can't wait!
The perfect gift for him. He can't wait to see what it looks like and tastes like.
9th November 2012
10th November 2012
Just ordered one. Can't wait to try the 50-year-old whisky. (and all the rest).
Ordered one for my mom's 87th birthday. She's in USA so I was wondering how the shipping would go, as I've occasionally had customs issues with shipments from Great Britain. Turns out everything went as smoothly as a good whiskey goes down. Mom loved the gift. We'd be down for an Irish one as well!
Neat Idea! Would make a great gift for several of my friends and family members. Too bad we can't get it here :(
11th November 2012
Great idea, well done gentlemen. It's on my Christmas list. 10 out of 10
12th November 2012
My family just delivered this gift for my Birthday today. Now I look forward to Christmas ever more than usual. Yihaa !!!
13th November 2012
Have to give a hint to my girlfriend about this :)
16th November 2012
i want one or two
19th November 2012
I was actually looking for something just like this for my Son for his Advent gift. I did speak to Germany about something very similar that got a bit confusing! When I saw this on your website I just had to buy it.
I am about to wrap it and will be very excited when he opens it as I'm sure he will be. Well done, a great looking product which arrived day after ordering and very well packaged.
20th November 2012
It's not their fault if they can't ship it. You just can't get alcohol in Canada by post...
Still look great!
Nearly Dec 1st. I really need to decide SOON whether to get one of these... I wouldn't like to get behind in opening the doors
Put peel off labels over the bottle labels, and a list of the whiskies in the whole pack with brief description. Then each day aficionados can guess which whisky it is, before peeling off the label to discover if their guess is right...
Great idea. Shame it can't be given as a Christmas present - maybe another option is a 12 Days of Christmas pack?
30th November 2012
Just purchased for my husband's birthday. He'll have a little catching up to do, but I suspect there will be no complaints!
Came here through Cup of Jo. Gosh if I had known of this earlier! But for next year will wish me definitely this one. Bookmarked!
What a sweetheart she is.
Now, do I wait until midnight to crack the first one open?
So excited. 5 stars and I haven’t even tried it yet just because it's such a great idea.
1st December 2012
Oh you guys are amazing!! Started on it this morning....number 1, a dram I would never have bought but I will now. Looking forward to tomorrow!! Thank you.
The first dram from the Advent Caleder. Springbank 10yr. 46%. I won't get too technical. Color good. Visosity good. Flavor was ok, nothing special, not a big finish but I'm spoiled I normally drink only cask strength. The after taste remained me of a rubber flavor.I wouldn't buy the bottle but I wouldn't turn down a free dram if offered...
Wish i could afford one.
2nd December 2012
Bought this for darling BF and he's just finished Day #2, he loves it! What a great idea and I am glad you ship to the States! Cheers to Day #3.
3rd December 2012
it was nice idea. first 3 days are disappointing. what's the point to put in the calendar regular malts you can find in any bar? couldn't you put maybe some rare independent bottlings or limited releases of the same price level, which can be at least interesting to try. now it looks like waste of money - i tried these whiskies hundred times before and if i like them - i have full bottles.
4th December 2012
Ordered it for my boyfriend who's a scotch connoisseur and is in love w/this gift! He collects scotch so this is the perfect gift. On day three and nothing but high quality good tasting whisky!
Got this for my mother in law for "christmas month"...it looks fabulous:) here's to hoping she can keep from peeking at the days to come:)
I was worried about the timing of the shipment because I live in the States. No problems or delays at all and everyone is happy! Quality of whisky is great as well.
The calendar was dispatched to the West Coast of the US with record speed ... and the recipient (who was very, very good this year) is delighted!
6th December 2012
Make one with rum for next year I will buy many :)
I received this as a birthday gift and absolutely love it. Will be looking forward to everyday, and to getting another one next year.
7th December 2012
I got one for Pappy as a gift and it arrived on time as promised. Now, I just have to wait and see if Pappy might share.
I've read some reviews, and the ones people have said are their Day 1 bottles are different then mine, so I wonder if they put them in different days, or if they actually are different bottles in each box. In any case, over the first 7 days I've had Japanese Whiskey, as well as 17, 18, 27, and 30 year old bottles of scotch. This product is WELL worth the money, I absolutely love it.
8th December 2012
8 days in I love it. Wife bought as a gift b/c I always wanted to get into Scotch but I did not know where to start. This is a great way to figure out what you like. Don't buy a $40 to $100+ bottle you might not like. GREAT IDEA and application. Good Job Masters of Malt!
A group of friends got together to gift me this for my November birthday. Perfect timing, because it gave me just enough time to get really excited about it. On day 8 now, and so far I've had a few different groups of friends over to taste with me, and each night my hubby and I sit down and document our response to the day's dram together. I'm learning what I really enjoy (as is he), documenting it and sharing with family and friends. My palate is getting more learned by the day. Thank you, Master of Malt, for creating this one. A surprisingly shareable and fun gift!
9th December 2012
Sadly it's the 9th and I've already finished the entire thing. The 50 year. Whoa.
10th December 2012
On my 25th birthday I found a bowmore 25 yo!!!!
And every bottle is a new discovery, it's really the best gift ever!! :-D
Bought one as a surprise for
My hubby. He is the happiest hubby ever 10 days in. Think this is a
Gift just waiting for the brandy one
I bought this for my husband, and it's been wonderful so far. He's always been interested in trying whiskies, but it's so hard to know what he'll like without wasting money. It took me several weeks to commit to the investment, but this is actually a whole lot more cost-effective than doing tastings at a pub. He's been keeping a log each day, and we've both been pleasantly surprised by things we do and don't like. I think this will be one of my best gift ideas ever!
11th December 2012
Man. Some of these reviewers are rough. I mean… you know, if you're spouse is a Diageo Whiskey Master or master distiller… maybe don't get this for 'em for Christmas, but for the rest of us… fantastic. I've already found some new favorites. I mean, honestly, unless you're a total, total whiskey obsessive / snob, this has got to be one of the best little collections I've ever heard of, so ignore any of those ridiculous low ratings.
So that said, I've already had some great single malts from Talisker, Oban, Glenfarclas, and a single barrel from Four Roses (that turned out to be much better than I would have guessed) along with a good range from other smaller distilleries, and I've thoroughly enjoyed every one of them.
So, except for the truly snobbish: Best. Advent. Calendar. Ever. FTW!!!
13th December 2012
Was disappointed that I didn't manage to order this in time to arrive in the U.S. before December 1 as the perfect gift. Then discovered that Robert Burns Day is January 25. Much more appropriate holiday to count down to with drams of whiskey (especially scotch)!
15th December 2012
Ordered this on the 11th of Dec for delivery to the US as a Christmas present and it has been held in customs for over a week. Does not look like it will be here in time for Christmas. I'm sure it will be a hit once it reaches the house.
22nd December 2012
went to a specialist shop to get a 50yo whiskey for my Husbands birthday hmm 1,500 ok i do love him but my purse has its limits. The girl in the shop however pointed me in the direction of the Masters of malt web site which is where i found this amazing calendar. Ordered it and got a phone call to say it would be delivedred on November the 5th which it was. My husband is amazed at the quality of the whiskey enclosed there has not been a dram he has not enjoyed out of it yet and, for the price i am delighted. My husband is like a five year old when he opens each new door.He really is having a very merry run up to christmas.Be prepared to be innundated with orders for next year as he cant stop bragging about it at the golf club.
Hubby is lovin it and said best Xmas pressie ever. Each day he does a blind tasting, comments on it and I tell him if he is right or not. Normally he isn't but he has learnt so much more about the various whiskies. All the whiskies are scored form 1-10. Most of them are 7s and above.
24th December 2012
What a fantastic gift this was from my very thoughtful wife ... quote of the month..."at last I've bought you a present you like!".... only took 25 years :-)
It's now Christmas Eve and I'm sipping away on the last one.
Oh - and my wife likes gin, so that's next year sorted.
Fabulous way to try 24 different whiskeys any time of year. Was expecting all Scottish whisky, but received 7 Japanese and two American, which we would never had tried without this sampler. Enjoying each and every bottle as we travel through Scotland and other areas of the world from the comfort of home.
29th December 2012
My man loves his advent calendar. He has kept all the little bottles and talks incessantly about the different flavors of each. Only problem is, he refused to open one per day over the course of advent. He wanted them all at once! He tempered himself, finishing the whole box in 4 days. I think he wants another one next year.
30th December 2012
I really enjoyed each bottle and only got one or two mainstream whiskies. There were some great independent bottlings and also the Glenfarclas Family Cask 1994, single cask Balvenie and the older Glen Moray's stand out. I drank each as a 25 ml dram and made a blend from the remaining 5ml and sampled this on Christmas day and it is superb. The rest I will compare with the blend made from next years calendar. Well done to all at MoM and a happy new year to you all.
After years of trying, I finally hit a home-run with this gift. My parents (young @ 72 & 75 years of age), enjoyed the entire ritual of
December 1-24 with the wee drams and the special glass. It gave them something to look forward to, and they both said it was the best gift ever! I only wonder if the 2013 version will have different whisk(e)ys? Don't know how I can improve upon this gift!
1st January 2013
Got one for birthday, and looked forward to December 1st sooo much. It also started out with some really great drams the first days, but after some time it ran a little bit into a Speyside/Japanese advent calenar. I really expected a higher spreading across the various scottish regions. Not a single Lowland, only one more-or-less from the Islands, only one Highland. And just two from Islay, my favorite region. And the Islays not being very "special", even though the Laddie Ten *is* a very interesting release (the first ten year old from Bruichladdich after it re-opened, if I'm not wrong) and the 12 yo Bowmore of course is always a good pick. But you can get them everywhere at any time.
On the other side there where 10(!) Speysides and 6 Japanese, even though I'm quite happy about the introduction to the japanese stuff. And finishing off the calendar with three Master of Malt releases? Well, I really don't want to complain about getting 50 year old Whisky, but ... Oh, and that "Brown Drink" maybe was the worst stuff I *ever* drunk. Anyhow, I still think the idea is plain awesome and according to the comments here the whisky selection varies from calendar to calendar, so maybe next time I'll just buy two of them. ;)
3rd January 2013
This was probably one of the best gifts I've ever received. The opportunity to sample so many variations of whisky was an absolute pleasure. In the future, it would be great if some of the low end blends and bourbons were dropped. Tullamore Dew and Bulleit Bourbon fine but seeing it in my advent calendar was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, just fantastic.
Just as Jesus would have wanted it.
19th January 2013
Disappointed bought 2 , they contained different whiskies on same days. One calendar was fantastic the other was very POOR, had things like Bells and Teachers- rubbish whiskies.
I would expect both calendars to contain the same whiskies.
4th March 2013
I want it so much!!!
17th March 2013
Just finished my drams. Not a bad one there. Drunk the 50 year old Speyside today National Whisky Day 18/05/2013
