Clynelish 23 Bottling Note
A 23 year old cask strength bottling from the Rare Malts range of limited cask strength single malts. Distilled in 1974, this is a smoky, peppery dram from the Clynelish distillery.
The nose is very smooth and of medium-body. There are notes of seaweed and a strong coastal character, notes of cut stemmy hay and gentle wood smoke develop with an oaked aridity. The palate is of medium-body and silken in delivery. There are notes of tar and leather with dry ropes and kelp. The oak is quite dry and chewy with notes of cut herbs and a leafy greenness. There is an effortless balance as the cereal sweetness creeps in. The finish is long with black pepper and spice.
