Nose: A complex nose with the expected smoke, but also an acacia honey sweetness and a touch of must.
Palate: That honeyed note expands into a mouth-coating explosion that includes light spice and lavender. The smoke whirls around underneath. A wonderfully structured palate.
Finish: A long fading sweetness, hints of orange here and burnt caramel.
Overall: A very easy drinking Caol Ila. You will be hard pushed to resist a second glass.
