Insider knowledge: Benrinnes 1997 - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail) whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Benrinnes 1997 - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail) whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: A nutty nose. Cake icing and sharp kiwis.
Palate: Advent calendar chocolate, milky and sweet. Slightly hot, though apple juice notes cool it down quickly.
Finish: Apples and pears (the fruits, not stairs).
Overall: Lovely stuff. Well balanced.
