This is a 34 year old, 1977 vintage whisky from BenRiach's impressive official range of single casks. It was finished in barrels which previously contained Rioja wine, and the result is an extraordinary mix of rich, biscuity Speyside whisky and spicy, fruity red wine. Superb.

Tangy, tart fruit. Peppery aromas with a touch of salted butter and sultanas.
Big and wine-like. The malt content is thick and rich, with a slightly creaking red wine character. Tannic late palate, with hints of subtle peat smoke and spice.
Long finish. Red berries and hints of smoke.
