This is the stunning Batch 3 of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's Ardbeg - it's a superb little whisky which flaunts the beautiful house style with more than a hint of sweet sherry too.

The label depicts the world's most famous Ardbeg collector, Geert Bero, the proprietor of the legendary Ardbeg Bar at Hotel Bero. He is shown here reaching up for the Spirit Purifier - the device responsible for Ardbeg's unique flavour.

This is a release of 170 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, blended malts and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish comic book-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Huge peat smoke and a wonderful mix of sticking plasters, lemon zest and a touch of dried apricot. A little sweet sherry lurks, with candy floss and big charred oak.

Palate: Beautifully balanced palate entry with a rich wave of peat smoke, melding beautifully with sherry and dried herbs. Quite medicinal at times, with notes of chipotle chilli, treacle and sticky toffee apples.

Finish: Smoky, smouldering finish with fresh sea air and toffee brittle. Typical Ardbeg peat.

Overall: A superbly rich, intense whisky which flaunts Ardbeg's character...

Soft

This is definitely a softer Ardbeg that the previous batches, all of which I have been lucky enough to have tasted. More sherry - indeed, needs a bit of water to bring out fully the smokey charred peat underneath it. Develops in the glass to a sort of refined, restrained uigedail-lite type of dram - in a good way. A meditative Ardbeg if you will, one that inspires and requires thoughtful reflection. Cavalier
