Martinez 2013 Bottling Note

Famously a forerunner to the beloved Dry Martini, the Martinez is an exquisite cocktail in its own right. This is superb bottled, ready-to-drink version of the classic cocktail, expertly made by the Chaps at The Handmade Cocktail Company. It was created with a blend of sweet vermouths, maraschino liqueur, hand-crafted bitters and Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Old Tom Gin. The result is sublime.

This was bottled in 2013.

The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a twist of lemon peel). Each bottle is marked with the year of the cocktail's 'birth'.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet, rich aromas. Quite herbal with notes of dense marasca cherries, almond, candied peels and earthy juniper.

Palate: Baked fruit and baking spices. Cherry, overripe grape and gin botanicals. Earthy, musky juniper.

Finish: Slightly oaky, peppery finish. Herbal.

Overall: Unique and beguiling stuff!
