Nose: A rich nose of morello and marasca cherries. Hints of spice, bitter orange peel, stewed fruit and red berries. Quite malty too, with a faintly herbal character.
Palate: A thick, herbal palate with chewy plum jam, cherries and toasted oak. Rich, malty whisky, hints of sherry and potpourri.
Finish: Long, bittersweet finish with notes of mixed peels, dried herbs and fruit.
Overall: An astonishing cocktail - very nice to try it just as it would have been more than forty years ago!
