St. George's PX Bottling Note
Very, very interesting this… Being renowned English whiskymen, the chaps at St George's Distillery in Norfolk take delivery of a number of top quality Pedro Ximenez dessert sherry casks to use for whisky maturation. They received some casks with delicious dessert sherry still inside, so they added a little of their whisky to them to create a sort of fortified wine, and aged it for a little longer before bottling. Absolutely glorious stuff!
Serendipity
I bought this out of curiosity in a shop in Norfolk. I gave the label such a cursory look at the time that I was under the impression I'd bought a whisky. I know, I know, I need glasses. I wasn't any the wiser until I tasted it. I was pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed. If you like whiskies with a sherry finish, you should definitely give this a go. Rich, honeyed, stuffed full of vanilla and very warming.
