Enmascarado 54 Bottling Note

The Enmascarado is a Silver Mezcal made using organic agave plants baked in an underground oven before the juice is double distilled in copper pot stills to 54.5%abv by master craftsman Don Guillermo Abad Hernandez. Mezcal was for a long time seen as inferior Tequila; however, in recent years, higher-quality Mezcals have been entering the market and winning awards at international sprit competitions. Traditionally Mezcals had the famous worm in the bottle and the story goes that the worm, which is actually the lava of a moth that lives on the Agave plant, was put in the bottle as proof of how strong the drink was. The test being that if the worm was preserved then the alcohol must be of a high strength. These days higher quality Mezcals leave the worm out but we’ll leave it to you to decide if that’s a good thing…

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Beach bonfire smoke rises out of the glass at first before sherbet lemon and candy-floss form a sweet base layer.

Palate: Sweet and syrupy with the smokiness taking a back seat for lemon and lime to shine.

Finish: The finish is reminiscent of a tropical beach bonfire, lapping waves with smouldering palm trees.

Overall: Deliciously sweet and smoky with all pervasive lemon notes that open this mezcal up.
