Master of Malt Single Cask Bottlings

Master of Malt was founded in 1985 as a retailer and bottler of whisky and fine spirits and we are proud to present our rather excellent range of single cask whiskies. Single malt is legally obliged to be aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years to be able to call it-self whisky. However each cask of whisky is inherently unique; even if there were two casks from the same distillery, filled at the same time, in the same type and shape of cask, next to of each other in the warehouse, aged for the same amount of time, essentially identical twins, they would still be different. Like identical twins they may be very similar to one another, wear the same packaging, have flavours in common, but they will still be individuals and this is why single cask whisky is fun, because by their very nature they are limited releases, when the cask is finished no more of the same can ever be produced.

We seek high and low to find the very best casks we can and then we bottle them as they are. We leave them at natural cask strength and if we do have to add a bit of water we wouldn’t dream of chill-filtering any of the goodness out of the whisky. Finally, hands on heart, we shudder at the merest suggestion of adding even the smallest drop caramel colouring, so the whisky looks as it does in the cask, naked as it were.

We also offer 3cl whisky samples of as many of our own bottlings as possible, to give you the opportunity to try before you buy. Plus, if you’re looking for an extra special gift, we are more than happy to personalise anything from our own range.
