Butler's Gin Bottling Note
Butler's Gin adds most of its botanicals using infusion bags, which are placed into each 20 litre batch of juniper-flavoured spirit. The bags contain organic lemongrass, cardamom, coriander, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, fennel, lemon and lime. They are left to infuse for 18 hours before the gin is hand bottled and signed by The Butler himself, Ross Butler of Hackney Wick. He perfected the Victorian-inspired recipe whilst aboard 'Fletcher', his speedboat! Casual.
The Butler recommends serving his gin cold, with a cucumber garnish.
Nose: Lemongrass alongside lemon and lime zest appear first on an initially sweet nose with plenty of liquorice and a little cinnamon. Given time, cardamom comes to the fore.
Palate: Quite fragrant, perhaps a little coriander before sweet fennel and blue and pink Liquorice Allsorts take over. Cardamom again develops along with lime beneath the surface.
Finish: Short and fresh.
Overall: A tasty and well put together gin, although the juniper struggles to make its mark.
