1823
James Robertson founds a distillery in Glen Feardan on the north bank of River Dee.
1826
The distillery is burnt down by compe-titors but Robertson decides to establish a new distillery near the mountain Lochnagar.
1841
This distillery is also burnt down.
1845
A new distillery is built by John Begg, this time on the south bank of River Dee. It is named New Lochnagar. This is today considered as the official opening year of Royal Lochnagar.
1848
Lochnagar obtains a Royal Warrant.
1882
John Begg passes away and his son Henry Farquharson Begg inherits the distillery.
1896
Henry Farquharson Begg dies.
1906
The children of Henry Begg rebuild the distillery.
1916
When Henry Begg’s only son Albert
1925
John Dewar & Sons becomes part of Distillers Company Limited (DCL).
1930
Administration of the distillery is transferred to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD).
1963
A major reconstruction takes place.
1990
A visitor centre is built.
2004
A 30 year old cask strength from 1974 is launched in the Rare Malts series (6,000 bottles).
2008
A Distiller´s Edition with a Moscatel finish is released.
