John Duff, former manager at Glendronach Distillery, founds the distillery. Alexander Grigor Allan (to become part-owner of Talisker Distillery), the whisky trader George Thomson and Charles Shirres (both will co-found Longmorn Distillery some 20 years later with John Duff) and H. Mackay are also involved in the company.
The company Glenlossie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. is formed. Alexander Grigor Allan passes away.
John Duff becomes more involved in Longmorn and Mackay takes over management of Glenlossie.
Distillers Company Limited (DCL) takes over the company.
A fire breaks out and causes considerable damage.
DCL transfers operations to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD).
Stills are increased from four to six.
Another distillery, Mannochmore, is constructed by SMD on the premises. A dark grains plant is installed.
A 10 year old is launched in the Flora & Fauna series.
