Glendullan

The seven original distilleries of Dufftown were known as the Seven Stills and the Glendullan distillery was among their number. Glendullan was founded in 1897, by William Williams and Sons. Five years later the whisky was to become the favourite tipple of Edward VII. Today, single malt Scotch whisky from Glendullan is released in part for export. Diageo include it as one of their three Singletons, the other two being Glen Ord and Dufftown....

1896

– William Williams & Sons, a blending company with Three Stars and Strahdon among their brands, founds the distillery.

1902

Glendullan is delivered to the Royal Court and becomes the favourite whisky of Edward VII.

1919

Macdonald Greenlees buys a share of the company and Macdonald Greenlees & Williams Distillers is formed.

1926

Distillers Company Limited (DCL) buys Glendullan.

1930

Glendullan is transferred to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD).

1962

Major refurbishing and reconstruction.

1972

A brand new distillery, accommodating six stills, is constructed next to the old one and both operate simultaneously during a few years.

1985

The oldest of the two distilleries is mothballed.

1995

The first launch of Glendullan in the Rare Malts series becomes a 22 year old from

2005

A 26 year old from 1978 is launched in the Rare Malts series.

2007

Singleton of Glendullan is launched in USA.
