The distillery is founded by Mackinlay, McPherson & Co. a subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd. William Delmé Evans is architect.

1985

Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Ltd sells Charles Mackinlay Ltd to Invergordon Distillers which acquires both Glenallachie and Isle of Jura.

1987

The distillery is decommisioned.

1989

Campbell Distillers (Pernod Ricard) buys the distillery, increases the number of stills from two to four and takes up production again.

2005

The first official bottling for many years becomes a Cask Strength Edition from 1989.

This was distilled at the Glenallachie distillery in March of 1972 and aged for 38 years in cask 6498 (a refill butt) before bottling by Douglas Laing in August 2010. A release of 384 bottles.  More info
