The blending company Wright & Greig in Glasgow, with Alexander Edward as one part-owner, founds the distillery. The ‘Distillery Architect’ Charles Doig does the drawings and it is first named Dallasmore.
1899
Production starts and the name is changed to Dallas Dhu.
1919
Dallas Dhu is sold to the blending company J. P. O´Brien & Co.
1921
Benmore Distilleries Ltd buys the distillery.
1929
Distillers Company Limited (DCL) takes over.
1930
Operations are transferred to SMD and the distillery closes.
1937
The distillery reopens.
1939
The stillhouse is completely destroyed by a fire and the distillery is forced to close.
1947
The distillery reopens.
1983
DCL discontinues production in March.
1986
Historic Scotland purchases the facilities.
1988
The distillery opens as a tourist attraction managed by Historic Scotland.
1995
Dallas Dhu 1970 (24 years) is launched as a Rare Malt.
1997
Dallas Dhu 1975 (21 years) is launched as a Rare Malt.
