1897

The distillery is founded by James Grant and is named Glen Grant Number 2 Distillery after the neighbouring sister distillery Glen Grant.

1902

The Pattison crash shakes the industry and the distillery closes.

1965

It reopens with The Glenlivet & Glen Grant Distilleries as owners. According to law two distilleries cannot bear the same name so it is changed to Caperdonich.

1967

The number of stills are increased from two to four.

1977

Seagrams buys The Glenlivet Distilleries Ltd (the new, shortened name) and forms Chivas and Glenlivet Group. Longmorn, Benriach, Glen Grant and The Glenlivet are also included in the deal.

2001

Pernod Ricard and Diageo take over Seagram Spirits & Wine, the Chivas Group becomes part of Pernod Ricard.

2002

The distillery is mothballed.

2005

A 16 year old from 1988 is launched.
