The distillery is licensed to James MacGregor who operated a small farm distillery by the name Balminoch for decades.
1897
Balmenach Glenlivet Distillery Company is founded.
1922
The MacGregor family sells to a consortium consisting of MacDonald Green, Peter Dawson and James Watson.
1925
The consortium becomes part of Distillers Company Limited (DCL).
1930
Production is transferred to Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD).
1941
The distillery closes.
1947
The distillery reopens.
1962
The number of stills is increased to six.
1964
Floor maltings is replaced by Saladin box.
1992
The first official bottling is a 12 year old.
1993
The distillery is mothballed in May.
1997
Inver House Distillers buys Balmenach from United Distillers.
1998
Production recommences.
2001
Thai company Pacific Spirits (part of Great Oriole Group) takes over Inver House at the price of £56 million. The new owners launch a 27 and a 28 year old.
2002
To commemorate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee a limited edition of 800 bottles of 25-year old Balmenach is launched.
2006
International Beverage Holdings acquires Pacific Spirits UK.
