1800

First mention of the distillery Duntocher, which may be identical to Auchentoshan.

1823

An official license is obtained by the owner Mr. Thorne.

1903

The distillery is purchased by John Maclachlan.

1923

G. & J. Maclachlan goes bankrupt and a new company, Maclachlans Ltd is formed.

1941

The distillery is severely damaged by a German bomb raid and reconstruction does not commence until 1948.

1960

Maclachlans Ltd is purchased by the brewery J. & R. Tennant Brewers.

1969

Auchentoshan is bought by Eadie Cairns Ltd who who starts major modernizations.

1984

Stanley P. Morrison, eventually becoming Morrison Bowmore, becomes new owner.

1994

Suntory buys Morrison Bowmore.

2000

A cask strength 31 year old is launched in a limited edition.

2002

Auchentoshan Three Wood is launched in May.

2004

More than a £1 million is spent on a new, refurbished visitor centre. The oldest Auchentoshan ever, 42 years, is released.

2006

Auchentoshan 18 year old is released.

2007

A 40 year old and a 1976 30 years old are released.

2008

New packaging as well as new expressions - Classic, 18 year old and 1988.
