The distillery is situated to the East of the village of Lochranza at the North of the island and takes its water from the Loch na Davie. Founded in 1993, by Chivas Brothers’ retiring managing director, Harold Currie, the distillery is the only one on the Isle of Arran since the most recent legally run distillery, ‘Lagg’, was closed in 1837. Harold Currie founds the distillery.

1995

Production starts in full on 17th August.

1996

A 1 year old is released with the text

1997

A visitor centre is opened by Her Majesty the Queen.

1998

The first release is a 3 year old (1 000 bottles).

1999

The Arran 4 years old is released.

2002

Single Cask 1995 is launched.

2003

Single Cask 1997, non-chill filtered and Calvados finish is launched.

2004

Cognac finish, Marsala finish, Port finish and Arran First Distillation 1995 are launched.

2005

Arran 1996 is launched (6 000 bottles). Two more finishes are launched - Chateau Margaux and Grand Cru Champagne.

2006

After an unofficial launch in 2005, Arran 10 years old is released as well as a couple of new wood finishes.

2007

Arran is named Scottish Distiller of the Year by Whisky Magazine. Four new wood finishes and Gordon´s Dram are released.

2008

The first 12 year old is released as well as four new wood finishes.
