Islay 50 Year Old Whisky

The ageing of a whisky has a huge impact upon its character, the vast majority in fact. Whisky is matured in oak, of the genus Quercus, and there a range of species used, from the European Oak to the Truffle Oak. We have some well-aged 50 year old whiskies. This make for a superb 50th birthday gift, or as a replacement for the traditional - and thoroughly flavourless - gold as a 50th wedding anniversary present. One can compare the effects of oak ageing, by comparing this whisky with other whiskies of similar style, but of different ages.
