To be found on Islay are some of the most powerful whiskies in all of Scotland, particularly those from the Southern Coast, often exhibiting massive peat smoke. There are lighter drams to be found, however, to the north of Islay there lies Bruichladdich and Bunnahabhain, both producers of a less peaty malt.
