Master of Cocktails - Eggnog

by Ben Ellefsen     28. October 2013 16:08

Master of Cocktails Eggnog cocktail

Last week, we gave you the choice between a classic summer cocktail or something more wintery and, overwhelmingly, the good people of twitter voted for a winter #MasterofCocktails option. So, last night we made the ultimate Eggnog!

The clocks had just gone back and the #UKStorm2013 was approaching so it did indeed seem the perfect time to batten down the hatches and mix up a classic winter warmer whilst we waited for all this to blow over.

The entire recipe can be found below, and apologies that it's been posted slightly later than usual - the bloody storm has evidently even affected our blog posts!

On to the 'nog!

Master of Cocktails Manhattan cocktail

As mentioned last week, this one is going to be super-simple and super-high-quality. We’re making the perfect Manhattan, something not entered into lightly, of course, as it's a cocktail that's no doubt close to many people’s hearts. A true classic that enjoys fame around the globe, this version, none-the-less, is a little bit special.

You could follow the action and mix-along on twitter (#MasterofCocktails) on Sunday night, as you can every week, and now here it is in all its completeness for you to enjoy!

Let’s get to it...

Master of Cocktails - Bathtub Ginger Beer

Master of Cocktails Bathtub Ginger Beer

It’s been a pretty epic week for cocktails between the The World's 50 Best Bars 2013 awards, where Artesian at the Langham Hotel scooped the big prize and Nightjar was the runner up, to the far-reaching London Cocktail Week 2013, where a £10 wristband gave you access to £4 cocktails at over 150 venues for 7 days!

Those who attended the latter and kept their eyes peeled may even have found themselves being treated to some rather excellent Bathtub Gin punch, courtesy of Maverick Drinks, at the ‘secret’ Farrell Speakeasy.

Master of Cocktails - The Martinez

by Ben Ellefsen     7. October 2013 14:07

Master of Cocktails Martinez cocktail

This week on #MasterofCocktails we made the Martinez – or rather, the more modern, gin-heavy version of the Martinez. We will, however, do the old-school, original version another time, as it's utterly delicious and a completely different drink.

As ever, you could mix-along by following the hashtag above on Twitter on Sunday from 6pm, and we've included the pics you posted below along with the recipe in full.

At the bottom you’ll also find the ingredients we’ll be using next week, but without further ado, let’s get started!

Last night, we made one of my all-time favourites cocktails: The Last Word. These are just awesome. If you haven’t ever tried one then, frankly, we feel sorry for you. Fortunately, you can remedy this terrible state of affairs by following the simple instructions below...

Master of Cocktails - The Scottish Gold Rush

Master of Cocktails Scottish Gold Rush

Welcome to the second instalment of Master of Cocktails, our new cocktail recipe feature on Twitter each and every Sunday evening (#MasterofCocktails), followed by a write up here on the Blog the very next day!

Last night, we made something super-easy with just three ingredients: whisky, honey and lemon. Yep, I've got a massive cold, but rather than what you may be thinking, we actually created a twist on The Gold Rush.

In terms of the whisk(e)y, a bourbon-matured scotch is ideal, or simply a bourbon, or at a push, just anything that's not peated! For a truly perfect choice see below...
